Thanks T.C.
Though it seems by this thread I paid too much for this 6 it kind of fell into my lap and as much as I know about some Porsche's I know a 914-6 is mid engine and that is about it. Just enough to get myself in trouble
I did check with a friend at the factory and it is numbers matching.
It is what it is but this will be a nice car when I am finished with it.

I have restored a few Porsche's so I am no stranger to that process and understand the advantages of having a complete car that is not full of rust. This 914 has some areas that need attention but not bad and very complete.

Both of us were members of the GGR of PCA. Bill was more of a auto x and time trial guy and I pretty much raced but did do some time trialing with the club.
Last time I saw Bill and his wife Rebecca was when I won the Porsche Parade race at Thunderhill around 2000. Rebecca sang the National Anthem. Can't remember if Bill raced or not.
I recognized the car right away even in that little photo.
Very nice people .

Are you feeling better about your purchase yet? If a nicely restore six is going for $70-$80k there is a fair amount of expense that can be incurred and still be in the black money wise.

I bet I would get the award for buying the worst condition six. Mine is pretty rough. And as I collect parts to restore it, they add up fast. But, my guess is still that the reserve on this one is between $25k - 30k.

Paul ! Guys thanks for the warm welcome !
I feel okay about the purchase. Would have liked to have paid less but at least I got a car that is pretty clean. Other than a couple of wrinkles on the passenger side door and some rust on the back edge of the rear deck lid the body is real straight, no accidents and original paint , though very faded. Battery tray has a little surface rust in spots but solid.
I like cars no one has ever seen before. My yellow #84 935 is like that. I think I am the fourth owner and between me and the previous owner it has been in our hands since 1988. Though there is nothing wrong with it, it is nice when you go to an event and five different people there didn't own your car before you did.

I'm sure everyone would like to pay less, but if someone has the money, the opportunity to purchase a -6 doesn't come up often and it shows in what they are worth now when restored.
The rising prices of all 914s I fear is eventually going to price me out of the market when I have the funds to make a purchase. It's awesome for everyone that already has one though. Congrats on your purchase, it sounds like you got a nice project!

Glad you noticed the car. Yes from the records I can find Bill was the owner and builder. This was the second version of the car. Somewhere down the line the first version got totaled at the Grand Opening event at Buttonwillow with POC. I have the molds for the bodywork. It had been run by bill with a 4 now it has a 3.6 very fun car..

So, the bid is up to $27,500.00. I wonder if these bidders have noticed that the ad makes no reference to any documentation. The seller does not make any reference to title work. That's a lot of money to fork over without having clear title in hand.
Seller does however state, "Car sold as is With NO warranties or guaranties".

Whomever this is "u***u ( 1 )" is willing to pump it up to $29,500.00.
At this point a lot of people should retract their bids as well. It's all suspicious and that car is very rough. It almost looks like it has suffered water damage.
Seller has a feedback score of 11. All of the feedback is over one year old and 9 of that was for purchases. So, he actually has a seller feedback score that is 100% positive for the past twelve months because it is blank for 12 months. He has 100% positive of nothing.

what it looks like is that bidder bid the 29.5 and may have gotten past the reserve price, then decided to retract those high bids and go back to bumping his own lower
bids once he figured out what the reserve range was. .
Then I got an EBay message that the the seller lowered the reserve... still always seems fishy when a bidder with a '1' feedback gets involved and the effect is the prices gets bumped up. .
What I don't get is this car will require a minimum of $30-40 K to get it right and make it worth the $70-80 K that driver Six's go for.
When the auction clearly say's "Needs Floors Replaced" that is cause to be concerned that what it should include is 'Longitudinal's need replacing"

Then imagine how the vendor of my 6 (yes, it languishes) might have felt. He lived in Pennsylvania, listed his sisters original 6, and his own (completely disassembled Convertible D). My buddy and I had never been to ebay before, our first transactions. We bought his D, and I bought his 6.
NOW for the kicker, he then agreed to rent a UHaul at our expense, pack the D into the UHaul, tow the 6, and drive from Pennsylvania to Vancouver BC...to be flown back (he was retiring, wanted to drive across the US, and we wanted the cars)...was a great guy, wish I had not lost track of him
