The 914 arms are shorter, the 911 knuckles drag the ground.



Do I know part numbers? Nope. Do I think there is much difference? Nope.

Are you just wanting 911 part numbers under there?

Another question, are you going to eat that meatball?

I just changed my 914 control arms + torsion springs for a set from an 81 911 mainly for the sway bar which is nicely tucked in just under the master brake cylinder. Are there any differences? I do notice now when I do a tight turn in the driveway that my wheels tend to hop. Could be that I just put on some new Yokohama 195/55/15s or my toe is out of alignment.

BTW, with the sway bar tucked under the master brake cylinder, I can no longer mount the steering rack protection plate. Should I be concerned about this or has anyone found a way to re-mount the protection plate?

The only difference between 914 and 911 (front) a-arms is the number of torsionbar splines...

Spoke, the protectionplate and the "under car" swaybar use the same mountingpoints.
Just put the plate in place, then bolt the swaybar mountingtabs to the car

part numbers:

914.6: 911.341.901/2.00
914.4: 914.341.901/2.00

even right, odd left

the number of splines is the only difference - even the torsion bar size was the same on the original cars, just a spline difference...

so that implies that the "height adjusting" lever at the other end is different too, and it is...

6: 911.341.033.00 "reverse lever"
4: 914.341.033.00 "change lever"

i don't know how many splines are used in either, but if you get really desperate, i can count the splines on mine...

Ok, thanks guys. The reason I am asking is because I want to know if the ball joints are different and to get an idea if I may have upgraded torsion bars. I guess if I remove the torsion bar cover I can count the splines and find out?

you can put either new or old style ball joints in either A-Arm.

your strut dictates which to use tho....

The 911 a-arm has 30 splines.

The 914 a-arm has 29 splines.

Then there is the diff between early and later struts....
