1) High idle when warm.

2) Oil leak (I thought it was from the pushrod tubes, but turns out it was seeping from the manifold).

3) Chirping noises from engine compartment.

4) Slightly high temps

I've read a bunch of posts here touting the benefits of new intake gaskets and I'm a total believer. Thanks everyone!

Now, if only I could get those turn signals to work right....

BTW. It's a 73 2056 with weber 40s.

I'd say if you have oil leaking from you intake gaskets, you have valve issues such as worn guides. If it's getting into the intake port and seeping out through the gaskets, you are also ingesting oil into the cylinders.

Thanks Sommd. I don't see any unusual oil smoke out the tail, but will def keep an eye on my oil level and see if any other symptoms pop up. Any other suggestions on what to watch out for?

This can also happen from overfilling your crankcase with oil.

Did you use the thick gaskets or the thin ones?
