I've had a few issues with power on my '75 914 1.8. I cleaned my K&N filters, added fuel filter, as well as increase my idle (it would stall while at red lights). That worked great...for about 10 miles. Based on conversations with others, I'm pretty sure I need to replace the points. Any suggestions on were to purchase, or brands to use?

Most likely not the answer you want to hear but have you considered going to Pertronix,Hotspark or similar, these really do work well and you won't have to touch the dizzy again, cheers.

Cool. Is there a specific Pertronix model that would work best? Or should I ask, are there any Pertronix models that wouldn't be compatible?

I've had Pertronix in mine for 7 years now, and no problems so far.

OK, first this was for my 1971 1.7 914, so I'm not sure if it's right for your 1.8. This is the info on box, Pertronix Ignitor Bosch 4 cyl. #1847V

One thing I like about Pertronix as they have a great website and offer really good support for issues you may have ,see if you can get the Ignitor 2 system it's a little better than the old setup thats been around for ever.
I have the Ignitor 2 on my six but you do need to run quality leads not the old solid core type...that is a downside but you won't look back even after that extra outlay.
