So does that mean I need to put some more turns on the adjusting nut on the clutch arm?

Define engages too high please. Do you mean that when you push in the clutch it engages about an inch down completly? Or you have to push it to the floor and as soon as you start to lift your foot it kicks in? If it is the first one, your clutch is too tight, the second one, it is too loose or stretched.

when I have the clutch pedal all the way in and I select first gear, I have to let the clutch almost all the way out (top of the pedal travel) to get the clutch to engage and start moving.

It means your cable it TOO TIGHT. I also bet you are pushing the diaphram past center which leads to a quick death of the presure plate spring fingers.

Ok then,

I always get it ass backwards.

I also always pull up to the gas pump with the filler door on the wrong side. blink.gif

Is that why when the cable is too tight, the pedal gets easy to push once you press it most of the way down? Or is it supposed to be like that?

loosen it till you get a half in play in the clutch pedal (ie pull back on the clutch pedal, and a half an inch till it stops)... Watch the shift fork and tighten and loosen the nut to see when it engades, then loosen it half an inch off that or something... Takes a while to get it right.
