I stopped in to see Bob's car. its worth the price. extremely well done, using the very best of new equipment. Bob has a lift and we looked it over very closely. it needs nothing.

There is also a very special 916 tribute car for sale, built originally by Brumos. It looks very much like the real 916, but it has detachable roof. I think it can be had for around $38k

PM if you want details.
ConeDodger
The car of the month is for sale.

Lafluer is his screen name and the pics are on the front page. Oh, and it's a real six!

Thanks for the heads up, Rob. thumb3d.gif

John's (laflaur) car looks and sounds ideal: I've sent him a PM.

Thanks also to all those who have sent me PMs, or who have pointed me to cars already for sale.

My preferred car would be an early one (a 70 or 71 VIN), fitted with a 2.2/2.4/3.0/3.2 engine, and steel flares.
Just my preference though - I'll consider all and any car that comes available.

So please keep the suggestions coming... I need to find a car, before my wife finds my 914 budget laugh.gif

Wait, what? That car on the home page is for sale? Is there an ad somewhere? I'm sure it's way out of my range but I'm curious...

He mentions in another thread that he is thinking of selling it for $30k. Not sure if that is an even number or the range, but if I was not already in possession of a 914 project with a Lancia Strato's replica to sell I would be calling him.
Anybody need a Lancia Strato's replica? Or a yellow 1970 with a side shifter and a 1911 waiting to go into it? biggrin.gif

Just a quick bump for this thread, as I continue my search.

For any owners who have been thinking whether now is the time to sell, I have a budget of up to $40k for the right car dependent on condition.

I am still holding out a while in the hope I can find an earlier base car - '70 or '71.

That said, I'll consider any 914 with a 6 in it... please keep the suggestions coming... Thanks!

my 3.2 always starts no matter how long its been sitting. That's why I like the 3.2...

Carbs are a PIA.

just my 2 cents....

Price change to 40k OBO starting tomorrow am.

If anyone is talking about selling when you guys are at Okteenerfest, please point them to this thread.

Thanks!

AIRCOOLED racing will b @ Octeenerfest with a real 914-6GT #19 (the first factory car) & a "Repli-Car" #18 also a 914-6GT (we built #18 several years ago) We have a 914 tube with 5 bolt set up & GT flares that would b a great starting point to have us build U one. We could build to your specs & what ever color U like or make it look like one of the original "GT's"

Love the #19 car, one of the best! You have a PM.

"Show me what you have for $25k-$40k"

(I phrase it this way, so I don't conflict with the other recent WTBer laugh.gif)

Was anyone talking of selling at Okteenerfest?

So... my WTB ad has already notched up over 1700 views. Not found a car yet, but I can play the long game.

If people are clicking on my thread so often, I figure I should make it worth their while looking, until such time as I find a car biggrin.gif

So instead of random bumps, I will post pics of nice GTs, the kind of cars that have inspired me to finally pull the trigger and buy one.

First, here is a race GT that I photographed at Spa in Belgium, on the annual Spa 6 Hours Classic race weekend:

I'm looking for an all steel car, a GT not a 916, and with a 6 in it already.

Really depends on what you want. Simple 6 conversion with flares or the full Monty GT conversion with all the fancy parts. Good thing is if you build it, you know what's under the paint.

I've already missed out on a few suitable cars, and they were priced $30k-40k. And that's where my budget range sits.

My 2.7RS rep was a full back to shell, nut and bolt build, and took several years.
I have neither the patience nor the budget (!) to revisit a project like that any time soon rolleyes.gif

My heart is not set on an exact GT rep. Just needs to be a solid, steel flared 6 conversion, decent paint, well done strengtheing, that looks right and goes right, but without all the rare as hens teeth parts and details...

Have you seen this Nor Cal car on Ebay...Let me know if you need a PPI done as I live only 30 minutes from there. Real 914-6 Signal Orange, Steel flared but non-original engine.

Wow, no reserve on that one? With 4+ days left on it, I don't see the bidding staying south of $40K, but it's worth keeping an eye on.
23e Heure
Thanks Dominic, that is a very nice looking car, at least from the advert anyway ;-)

I agree with iwanta914-6: I bet the bidding goes into overdrive toward the end of auction.

I stopped bumping this WTB thread as I have been working on another lead...

Always good to have a contingency just in case that does not work out though!

Looking closer at the car, I think this is/was August 2015's COTM, previously owned by(914 username) laflaur ?

No disrespect meant to the ebay seller, but I suspect he bought it last month and is now flipping it.

Pelican linky linky

Pity really: I saw laflaur's post on pelican in August, and PMed him there just a couple of days later (and via 914world soon after). I never heard back, presumably too slow...

Still, for everything a reason: meant that I moved on to other options sunglasses.gif

Not sure if this fits your requirements, but......

This is a very cool 914-6 tribute that CPR has for sale. It has a 911T engine that's been built up to S specs with a lot of NOS 914-6 parts.....they're asking $49K. Apparently it was built by George Hussey some years ago.

http://cprclassic.com/porsche914/1922/index.php
mepstein
Too bad they built it on a later car.
Cal
The front and rear has mild flares installed.....
matthepcat
Lower it, with wider fuch's and lower profile tires...PMO fuel injection...loud muffler...would be a cool hotrod.
Cal
Here's another one that George built that's for sale. '73 914-6 conversion with a 3.6L......$79.5K.

Sorry if I'm high jacking this thread.....
iwanta914-6
Just ran across this conversion, looks purdy for $43K

It does look OK... but it looked a lot better when it was still for sale at $29K just two months ago rolleyes.gif

Here is Bob the builder's original thread

Or click back one page on this very thread when Bob offered it to me

Seems like signal orange 914-6 conversions attract flippers!

Thanks to everyone for the recent links and PMs on leads for other cars...

All going well on an upcoming PPI, my quest to buy a 914 may soon be achieved...
eric9144
While I can appreciate CPR's overall quality of cars...$49k for a conversion seems really steep.

It is John's car. And it is being flipped...
Larmo63
I think real /6s will soon be VERY hard to find and buy of any stripe. The conversion cars will follow shortly after that, especially the tastefully done ones.
euro911
$43k, not $49k ... but even so ... blink.gif

Closing out this thread, thanks to 914world a few weeks ago I became the owner of a /6 conversion.

David was a pleasure to deal with as a seller: helpful, open and flexible.

Normally Thanksgiving weekend is cause for celebration.. Not for me this year as it is slowing the shipping process for my new car yawn.gif

So for now it is secure in a warehouse in Houston:

IPB Image

Once the car lands in the UK I will start a new thread to document what I have planned next for this light ivory car from Texas...
iwanta914-6
Beautiful car! Hopefully it stays safe in the warehouse and makes a safe trip across the pond. Congrats to both you, the buyer, and the seller!

Since you were searching for a GT, are you going to put flares on?

Hey, I see a Delorean back there.
23e Heure
The car has been in storage all year while I collected parts and spent hours looking at pics of GTs, dreaming and saving.

However with it due to go to Wales for its transformation next month - I could not resist the temptation to take it out this weekend in the December sunshine.

A tad smug, I grant you:

But as you can see, it was not just me feeling quite pleased laugh.gif
