Yes sir, crazy as fruit bats. This was a perfectly good little ratrod 2 weeks ago, drove nice, original paint (where there was any) lights all worked, started every time. Back window rattled like mad though................
DPO had tried to fix the window with silicone sealer and Popsicle stick shims. So while I'm scraping off all the silicone I might as well pull off the top piece of vinyl which was the only piece left and take care of all the surface rust under it and on the sail panels before it got any worse, and then paint the sail panels and top and where the rear window goes. Might as well pull the rest of the interior and make sure there are no ugly surprises there (there weren't) while I have the back padding and sound proofing off and seats out. The trunk lid sat a half a centimeter high at the front corner of the drivers side, so may as well pull the lid and hinge off to see what's up. (Whats up was the DPO replaced 1 hinge mount and welded it in too high up on the side panel.) So I'll have to redo that. While I have the lid off I might as well take care of the (fortunately only) surface rust at the rear of the trunk also.
Now I'm thinking I might just as well take it the rest of the way apart and paint it all. I can drive it again next year. Or the year after.
Anybody interested in a solid project car with a lot of potential?
