My alternator bely came off the pulley, and while removing it for replacement I found both the bracket and the coil (!) had been tumbling around the blower housing. Luckily none of the wires are damaged, although the coil got roughed up a bit. I'm having a hard time finding where it was mounted, both shop manuals have fuzzy pictures on where it goes on my 1.8 with L-jet.

The bolts are long gone, not sure where they went, but a few years ago I had a local shop install and SVDA for me and I suspect something they did caused this...Can someone guide me with a picture of where it mounts? Thanks in advance

While sorting wires getting the coil back in position I found a six foot red wire exiting the center tunnel in the engine bay, coming from the same hole as the a/c +and - wires. This is a non operational air conditioning car, the wire is only hot with the car started, and is about six feet long, enough to reach virtually anywhere in the engine area. The end has a male/female piggyback terminal, and the wire has a protective sleeve the full length.
George did some reworking on this engine, such as removing the smog pump etc..., so it could be for something that was removed. I'll get a picture up here shortly.

I don't see anything on the compressor that the wire can attach to...Click to view attachment Click to view attachment Click to view attachment Click to view attachment
