I was thinking you could mask your own off using pin-striping tape.. shape it any way you like, mask of the rest, then use Plasti-dip and lay on 6-8 coats. I think it would look good, and can be peeled off fairly easily. A can of the stuff is around $5. I did some Plasti-dip on my Audi grill / emblems and was amazed how easy it is to do and how good it looks.

I'm pretty sure those are 911 ones. Not sure how well they fit unmodified.

...........Porsche installed CLEAR items on the 1997 Turbo which can be cut to shape 914.
The picture shows a 930 gravel shield. Good material but the 930 shape is not a good match for the 914 GT flares. I like the PlastiDip idea.

Just buy some Black Vinyl and do it that way (3M 1080) If you dont like it you can peel it off and try a different shape. Or as it wears you can just peel it off and put on a new one.
anybody have a template or source for a gravel shield for GT rear flare as pictured in DGBVWP
perhaps a 911/930 e-bay shield will work, but hate to spend $$ just to test one
TIA & see y'all at Rennsport

Use the clear bra stuff if you aren't looking to change color. I've got it on mine & love it.

thanks for the ideas
getting a proper "french curve" look was my main concern with DIY
- had already made a paper template
also had/have concerns about the stuff conforming w/o wrinkles & bubbles cuz even xpel light shields & flat vinyl cling graphics have those issues when installing
