Well I got the torsion springs off the engine Work gloves and I protection and it came off with some force Under each hinge is what looks like a solid rubber block and the torsion spring pushes against.

Both rubber blocks are worn and one is cracked.

Is there a replacement for this? What have you done to repair this bumper?

The safest way is to cut through them slowly with a grinding wheel that will relieve the tension slowly

I didn't want to ruin mine when I removed them so I managed to release the clips without breaking ay bones.
But then I couldn't fish them out of the engine bay and I ended up cutting them in half anyhow.

Edit - I was talking about the rear trunk springs, so if you are talking about the engine LID springs, they come out with the lid and will not release the tension.
