I have mine stripped and on the spit. Will be embarking on left to right as soon as I finish some repairs on the longs. I have one of these pedal units to put in it: http://www.obpltd.com/Pedal-Boxes/Pro-Race...l-Box-OBP0002PR It will be a historic racer.

Cheers,
Nutter965
Thanks guys, fortunately I have plenty of room I dumped that old 911 out the back field sunglasses.gif , I have it all stripped down now and up on my ramp, found some accident damage on the rear suspension console and driver side front but virtually NO rust biggrin.gif

Welcome to the Build-Off Challenge, Now it's an International Build-Off!

I know it quite cool ! It means there will always be some updates on various time zones ! piratenanner.gif
Nutter965
Ok so the kids are in bed and the wife is out so it was car time !! Just to add it beer o'clock here now, I bought some new spot weld bits yesterday and they working great, I drilled the spot welds on the rear suspension console out and it really miffs me I'm going to have to cut a perfect engine shelf to replace the front grrrrr

Now the front I had to remove a very bent support (not sure of the right name) before I could get the persuader out to shift the floor and front mounts back down I'm fairly happy ... Comments welcome ..... There's still work to do on the front panel, I checked the hood fit and it's good so all the damage was below this level.

Once I have the car straight I'll embark on the right hand drive conversion, I'm using a 911 pedal box and I have a second bulkhead and floor section to cut up as I want it to look as factory as I can make it , you guys will be the judges of that so here are tonight's work pictures ... And I'm doing this now beer3.gif

So i suppose i shold set the task list and the goals but the ultimate goal is to have a running drivig car !

Tasks-

1a) straighten body and repair the small amout of rust, lengthen front footwell to accept 911 RHD pedal assembly, move park brake to right side including long indent, move parkbrake cable tubes to right side, move steering coulmn mount and make sure it all mounts up.

2) Have the shell media blasted, fit Maddogs engine mount, inner long kit, chassis kit and sway bar reinforcement and then prep for paint.

3)Cut up dash and weld up as right hand drive, including 911 ignition switch i think i'm going to use an early dash as it gives me more room to play with as there is no dash vents,

4) Paint the car still onthe fence on the colour, i'll maybe do a poll closer to the time

5) While the shells away i'll rebuild and modify the suspension, i'm going for Elephant racing coil overs and bushes, Weiltmister front sway bar standard rear bar (thanks Garold) 911 park brake (Tangerine Racing).
Brakes are 911S front calipers, 911 Rear brakes complete, drilled and grooved front and rear vented discs

6) Build the suspension back in to the shell, wiring, dash, lights, doors, glass. rubber seals (thanks Mark)
Wheels i know what i want but there a supprise ! just need to save up !

7) Hopefully my engine will have arrived and isnt in to bad shape .... freshen and install into car either Carbs or Throttle bodies with EFI knowing my luck it will need a full rebuild !

8)Interior custom carpets due to it being RHD, seats (i may go down the sports seats route) reinstall all the trim

9) pray alot that everything goes close to plan ......

so lots of this headbang.gif abit of this welder.gif to hopefully do this driving.gif

I was wondering what happened to that car!

I can't wait to see it come back to life, sounds like you have a great plan (and a lot of work).

Good luck!

Nutter965
Hi all, been a bit of a random month with no work on my car, and my excuse is my better half was rushed in to hospital for 2 weeks ! Thankfully she's now back home and on the road to recovery.
So excuses given and the work begins again

The main work to take place is the extension of the footwell to accommodate the pedal assembly I'll be starting to cut this weekend keep an eye out for updates as this is going to be fun.
I want to keep the look the factory probably would have left so once I've mocked it up please feel free to comment !

Nutter965
Well I started cutting tonight, I have bits of an old bulkhead I'm using for bits, so I've fitted the pedal holder very roughly and removed the front panel work to give foot room and to place the pedals in the correct place

Still a lot of cutting and tweaking to do yet dry.gif
Nutter965
It's looking like I managed to get the measurements right ! The end of the pedal rods mounts on the old LHD pedal mount !

Gadzooks! You have your work cut out for you, Nutter. Do those shafts use some carrier or intermediate bearings? beerchug.gif
EDIT: I'd like to see some close ups of that pedal assm and/or it's individual parts when you rebuilt it. biggrin.gif
Nutter965
It's a complete setup from a RHD 911 so yes everything has bearings and is mounted as the factory does, this is the fairly straight forward bit, I still need to move all the corresponding bits for the hand brake (e-brake) and there's some modification to stop the steering shafts rubbing on the sheet metal .
Cracker
Outstanding! Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Hi guys and girls sorry for the lack of updates to say November was a kick in the teeth would be an understatement !

We had a visit from creeper burglars who stole all the keys for my Businesses , my wife's car and my pick up which they also took and to top it all my iPad and oakleys, they then took it for a trip to Dublin and I've been caught for the tole roads and then it was found like this

So my wife has been very upset as there was scumbags downstairs as we slept upstairs, I've been busy upgrading lights and gates and my rifle is now under the bed !

Work will resume shortly !
Nutter965
Ok so heading back on track, we'll sort of, couldn't resist building this up when my bits arrived !

Evening all,

Managed an hour in the workshop this evening, I cut and flipped the cable guide plate and then trimmed, blasted and painted the extra set of hand brake guide tubes, ( it's weld through primer) so hopefully this week will see it all welded in to place.
