As many of you know I have a thing for swapping engines. My Audi conversion is a blast but I recently acquired a Ferrari V12 and transaxle and can't leave well enough alone. I wanted to enter into the 914 Build Off Challenge too. I'm pretty sure this build will be the most challenging.
The V12 does pose some real fitment challenges. Rather than cutting the cabin bulkhead like Rick did on the Alien, the chassis will be stretched 12" right behind the drivers door. This will also lengthen the wheel base. The rear suspension will be borrowed from a wrecked Cayman S. The front may be grafted is as well as the design develops.

I will be running dual MoTec fuel injection systems with wasted spark. The Ferrari dual clutch transaxle will have a custom controller that integrates with the MoTec system. Cam profiles will be upgraded, compression bumped and heads ported and polished. This combination should be good for 800HP on race gas.
I've procured a Cellete table and have it ready for sectioning the body. A tube chassis will replace the structural long and tie all the suspension points together. Carbon fiber brakes and center lock wheels will top off the unsprung mass,
Steel flares will be applied and widened 4" to house the new 20"x14" rear wheels with 20"x10" in the front.
Dash cluster will be replaced with an F1 steering wheel and heads up display.
All of this work I plan to have completed in about 10 months.
Not to be outdone, the 914 will hace ice cold AC and a data logging system.
Here's a rendering of the stretched 914.
