70-71 used a VW Type 3 column if that helps. The key was unique to the 914 though.

Note there are two different early columns. 1970-early 1971, with 12 pin connector. Late 1971 with 14 pin connector.

I used a 73 column and found wiring diagram searching here. Only did it a year ago but can't remember other details. I'll look and see if diagram is out in garage. As I remember it was pretty straightforward.

There's a couple early ones on eBay.
