Full Version: Any 944/924 parts the would work on 914's?

I can get some 944/924 parts for free. Some guy told me to just give him a list of parts that I'm interested in and I can have them for free. So what would be some parts i could use. Mirrors? Visors and pins? Any ideas?

a thread here said trans geares are swappable.....

see if he has cookie cutters (assuming this is from a 924S)..... if its five lug......the collapsible spare.....

I don't think you're going to get much.

However, the 924S and 914-6 front rotors are the same.

i used...early 944/924s(all)

front hubs, rotors-same as 911, bearings-if using 911 spindles
i used s2 front springs on the rear
jack and tool kit
924s wheels.

Go for the steering wheel, See the condition of the dash (say that you were thinking of doing a dash change...

What year is this from? The late model dash tops can go for 300+ easy in perfect condition... lol

Check what kind of calipers, If its got any upgrades, check them out...

Mirrors can work, Visors wont (you can always MAKE them... lol)

You'll know what you want when you look at the car... lol

I've heard of people adapting retractible seat belts and 944 calipers from them. Key word is "adapt" so they are not a straight bolt on...

The 924 seat belts I used were almost a bolt-on. All I had to do was remove a pin from the reel assembly. I think they fit better than the 944 belts because the part with the buckle has a longer cable. This was on a 73, which has a firewall space for retractable belts.

Oh, and the fuzzy dice are the same (all years) biggrin.gif

Well, I know this ain't much, but the door switches that are listed as NLA for the 914, well, them there ones from the 944 work, and I believe they will work for the the parking brake switch too, but I haven't tried that yet.

Sorry I couldn't contribute much of any significance, but I usually have nothing to contribute, so at least i am getting better. biggrin.gif

Woa! (how do you spell that anyway?) That's alot of switches. Wouldn't one in each place have been enough?

There is a switch in each front door-jamb to turn the cockpit light on and to make that annoying buzzing sound when you open the door. There is also a switch under the parking brake lever that turns the parking brake light on when you have the parking brake on.

not like anyone really cares about those buzzers. mine are all gone along with the "fasten seatbelt light" and some other crap, uh unnecessary stuff

You can use a 924 turn signal switch to convert to an electric washer pump instead of the pneumatic system.

The engine oil is a direct swap, except there's too much of it. Brake fluid, too, but not the gear oil. Most anything else, as stated in many of the replies, prolly needs to be adapted. The Cap'n
