I'm looking to replace my beat up fog lights on my '72. I'm wondering if I should go with fog lights or Erving lights. What have you all tried and been happy with? Have any suggestions or tips?

Pilot driving lights. Slightly smaller than the OEM ones, but they seem to fit the fog light grilles better that way. Inexpensive and pretty widely available. Google for them.

Unless you live in a fog prone (not 'porn') area, fogs are basically worthless. I replaced mine with driving lights which not only look better but put out a ton of light. Pairing those with my H4 100 watt high beams, they really do the job. Bought the lights from Camp914.com

If you don't drive in the fog much, put in some driving lights. I pulled the power lead off the low beam fuse and put it on the high beam, now when I go to high, I get highs and the driving lights(when the switch is on).

Yes, they're a little low to be most effective, but it sure is nice having a mile reflective range when you're doing about 90. I'm using some old Cibie Series 95 driving lights. On my '73 they fit in the standard location and I trimmed an aluminum piece to to give it a nice finished look.

I'm using the same lights behind the big bumper on my '75, but had to widen the opening just a bit.

Here is mine with the Pilot drivers, which I prefer to the dull look of the original fogs, which I had completely refurbished and they still looked dull.

I bought a set of the Pilot lights last year. I've not installed them yet but after doing some research they seem to be more spot beams than driving beams. There is no fluting in the lenses or reflectors. Do you get any side lighting benefit from the Pilots or do they just shoot a narrow beam down the road? My guess is the latter.

Some other options I've looked at are some KC Hi-lites and the much more expensive and hard to find Cibie Tango driving lights. Both of these have fluting in the lenses. Their spot beam versions are clear without fluting like the Pilots. On some of the tight an twisty roads we have around here some additional corner lighting would sure come in handy.
