I have a 1970 914-4, a nice survivor. It is a joy to drive on our rural SE Iowa roadways.

After another driving season of idling in the 400-2000 RPM range (without any discernible pattern), I'd like to have a 914 specialist take a crack at it next year. We had a superb Porsche specialist Iowa City for many years (before I owned the 914), but he's long retired.

Are there recommendations from 914 World members of a good 914 mechanic in IL, WI, MN, IA, or MO? Eastern Nebraska would be OK, too.

Thanks in advance,

Marcus

There will probably be several responses reaffirming Brad's quality and integrity thumb3d.gif . Great guy.

Brad Mayeur at 914Ltd in East Peoria, IL. 43 years of working with these cars, a stellar reputation, and absolutely fair and honest in all his dealings. I doubt you can find someone who'd say something bad about him or his expertise.

(edit for LOL at Chris H's quicker post than mine)

Nice car. Are those some sort of historic homes?

Are those a couple of really skinny turkeys out by the road, hoping to not be harvested next week?

Hello All,

I detect a theme: many fans of Brad in Peoria. I will contact him to discuss work in 2016. Many thanks to all for guidance.

The photo was taken at the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site in West Branch, IA, which has some historic structures. http://www.hoover.archives.gov/

For Porschef, I think the "turkeys" are benches photographed from the side. Someone has turkey on the brain!

+1000 on Brad in Peoria.

(I'm sure you're talking about Tom Bruch in IA City- good friend of mine from way back in the late 60's- he's "retired" but still playing around with Porsche and VW engines. He's forgotten more than most of us will ever know...)
