Nothing like the original 718 - guess Porsche too has fallen into that marketing approach of names sell...

As for the four, the industry as a whole is moving to smaller turbo engines.

On a positive note, very cool commercial.

I'm just surprised nobody has mentioned donor engines yet!

I figured it will just be a shorter version of the Boxster/996 engine...

Those are supposedly a tad bit too wide if keeping the stock trailing arm locations.

Thank god they didnt call it a 914....

I had a Classic Mk1 Scirocco GTI when VW started using the name again... lets just say it made searching for parts on ebay impossible because it would only show the new plastic stuff from a gazillion asian part traders....

and...

"Didnt you have a Scirocco?"
-Yes I do... smile.gif
"How's the luggage compartment, can I fit my golf clubs? I'm thinking of getting the diesel DSG one..."

To keep in line with this silliness I suppose Porsche will rename the 991 to 908 911...

Well, they're at 991 already. Only 8 more cars and they'd run out of numbers! So they're recycling. Which will help them with the Green lobby, I'm sure! wink.gif

Funny thing, though--from what I can tell, the 718 was almost universally called the "RSK", or "RS-60" or "RS-61" back in the day, depending on the year the car was made for.

'718 Boxster' and '718 Cayman' are only the names. (for marketing)

The internal Porsche model platform number is still 981. (Just like calling a 993 a '911'.)

WTF.gif Got it. blink.gif
