I called around and was given two part numbers:
91451109110 for the "engine release" cable (cable only), and
91451123110 for the "trunk release guide tube" (tube only).

Apparently, the same parts are used for both engine lid release and front trunk. Presumably, you need to shorten the guide tube and cable for the engine lid release?

Both Sunset Porsche (Beaverton, Or.) and Stoddard showed the parts as discontinued. I spoke to Pelican and they said they had the guide tube.

Both in stock. Don't replace the cable without the tube the tube gets brittle over time and cracks. These cracks allow the cable to flex the tube. making it difficult to open without excessive pull.

made mine with the bump to seat into the guide tube at the bulkhead.

Thanks Mikey. So just to confirm - the same cable and guide tube is used for both the front trunk and engine bay lid release, with the engine lid cable/tube then split to simultaneously work the two lid latches? Thanks.

2 sets ordered. (One for front trunk release and one for engine bay lid release. ) Please let me know if there are any questions. Thanks.

The cables may be the same but guide tube for the engine lid is metal. They do not split and operate both at once. Separate cables.
TheCabinetmaker
Just checked my pet. The cables are indeed the same#. Guide tubes are not. Like I said above, the tube for the engine lid is metal. This thing will be a pain to replace. It's welded to at least two bulkheads before entering the cabin.
Mikey914
Yes we do sell the cables separately also.

Mark,
About 10-years+ when I restored my 914 I purchased these tubes & cable from Porsche NOS/Germany for replacement. The color you show is what I received, but the original color was more milky white on my original tube. Anyone want to comment on the color of their original never replaced tube color??
Of course if it came from Porsche NOS parts bin then it's correct, YES, in my opinion!!! happy11.gif

Your local Home Depot has tubing for refrig. ice makers. It fits and looks good. Buy the adaptor and it will push right on the metal tube the cable goes thru coming into the trunk.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will keep that in mind for future reference. I ordered my parts from 914rubber.com.

You will notice that the tube when you get it is not just a straight tube. It does has a stop bonded to it to fix it in place at the bulkhead. You may be able to use a straight tube, but the factory did put the stop there for a reason. I'd bet over time it forces the tube into the metal guide and allows for more flex, making the cable ineffective the same way as when it cracks.
