Dont know why, but I like that car! Just not that picture laugh.gif

Too much glare.. GAH!
VegasRacer
I agree. It is not a great picture. It is just the best one I have available for now.

In the past the 1st person who spoke up got their car on the front page. I am willing to delay my 15 minutes of fame until later in the season when I have a better photo to offer. Who else has a good action shot for the home page?
Jenny
How 'bout my dirty little car kicking up cones at Alameda? This picture actually caught one airborn!

Hay, John, how'd you get that thing into ASP?
That's the only ASP 914 I've ever seen.

That's the only ASP 914 I've ever seen.

I don't have a SCCA rule book. I showed up at the 1st auto-x of the season and said "I need to class my car". The steward took a quick look at my car and got out his copy of the rule book. He then asked me a few questions about what I had done to the car. He pointed to page 157 where it says 914/6 (all) and told me I would be in ASP. (I have since found a copy on-line, but I have not botherd to read it.)

Do you think I should be in a higher or lower class?

Jeroen
congrats John, you'll be next on the home page
(you'll have to wait 'till I get home - no grfx software on the new office computer yet)

Trekkor, how can that be an exciting shot it just looks to be burnin some 6 cylinder oil confused24.gif
or is it tire smoke burnout.gif
Trekkor
It's the results of trying to take a hard righthand turn at near 70 mph.
180 degree flat spin, rolling backwards through the cones and DNF. wink.gif

Here is what I found for an original 6
My take on it would be take it as a blessing to remain in ASP because if you get bumped to SM-2 the PAX will kill you.

I vote for Jenny's car biggrin.gif

Both of the first 2 events had 100+ entries I was the only 914, the only Porsche and the only German car, (except for 1 BMW at the 2nd auto-x). I placed 1st and 2nd in ASP. (I sure hope my competitions doesn't read this thread.) I would have been 3rd and 4th in SM-2. If I got bumped to SM I would have to get off my street tires to be able to compete.

I've stood around in enough parking lots and I thought that I had gained some knowledge about autocross. But, I've never seen this before. What does the position of these cones signify?

I don't think so. Unless it's a CA thing.

The tip of the cone should be pointing at the standing cone itself to indicate which side of the standing cone one should pass on. Other directional cones can be laying on their side to indicate the desired direction of travel but should not be near a standing cone.

Are these the the one you are talking about?

8"x16" ET = 10.6 #911 361 020 45
8"x16" ET = 23.3 #951 362 117 00 From a 944 Turbo

I like the look with the flares and am looking for a set just like that!

I have two sets of 15's that I can sell to get what I am looking for!!

Thanks

The vanity plate had always been 1 SLIK6 until I got a hold of it.

In the past we have been asked not to post magazine articles on this forum.
I do have a copy. Is there anything specific you want to know?

February, 1992. Glad to see that car still alive and well. My alltime favorite issue and car from that mag. What happened to Carl's car?

He sold it to a guy in Colorado who now races it in PCA.

Wow, that car has changed. He comes to Hallett for the PCA Octoberfast club race. Never realized it was the same car.
