I purchased a carpet kit for the front trunk 2 pieces .
I need to now cut my wood .I can make a template

but my question is : does the carpet wrap around the edge or is it cut the same size as the board .
Also I see a "tail" is often left longer than the board so that the carpet can wrap up the backside
any insight maybe a photo of the underside of a correct one would really help .

Or a link ... I have studied the " front trunk " thread in originality on this forum, but still cant quite make out the needed info

It is a bit tricky to do it exactly as the factory did it. The felt does wrap around the edge stapled. At the rear the part that forms the flap is the tricky part as it is stapled and sewn to double it up for stiffness. Hard to explain. My car had the original and I even messed up twice cutting the new felt using the Original as a template.

Some places sell it pre cut and even with a replacement board.

thanks ... you explained it perfectly ...
Huge help

(yes ... lesson learnt , this may have been a good time to just "buy it ")

Here’s the shape you need (drawn around a stock original trunk carpet on new perlon)

Here’s how it’s wrapped and stapled on the board.

Real easy job and about £10 GBP or $16 USD for the perlon.

Thank you SO much .
I cut my board and just finished gluing the carpet .
With other input . doubling over the "tail piece" on the bottom works GREAT .

I'll snap a photo .
I like it so muck I may hold off on doing the back section . (or not ... LoL)
