SOLD! Nice original steering wheel 914.347.805.10 dated 5/71 and is a 380mm size. This came off a 914-6 but have been told it was an upgrade on a 914-4 originally. This is an unrestored wheel with it's original leather wrap and in great shape. Has the flat hub and countersunk attachment holes on the back for the 914-6 and 911 cancel ring. This would look great in an original car. Price is $675 and includes shipping in the USA.

Mike - It could have been on your 6 but it's an early 4 wheel. Only 803 10 - plastic & 806 10 - leather, came stock on 6's. 804 10 - plastic & 805 10 - leather, came stock on early 4's. Same hubs on each wheels but that's how Porsche did it.

Those are the numbers in the factory parts manual for 914-6
also the splined shaft the wheel mounts on carries a 901 part number for a SIX. .
The four cylinder shaft carries a 914 part number however a 1972 914-6 did use the
914'4 shaft.

Part numbers on 914 wheels

914 347 805 10................... Leather covered, rubber rimmed steering wheel 70/71 914/4 and 914/6 and (apparently) 73 Carrera RSs. (The best choice for 911s) These are the ones
that are flat on the front.
914 347 803 10................... Plastic rimmed 70/71 914/4 steering wheel (You can cover these in leather and they work just fine. Double wrap them and they are even better)
914 347 805 11....................Leather covered 72 914/4 steering wheel (with 90 degree counter sink) Not the best choice but they do work better than the later 914/4 wheels with the
beveled counter sink.
914 347 804 11....................Plastic rimmed late 914/4 wheel
914 347 809 00....................74 and later 914/4 "simulated leather" wheels. These things are junk!

Bottom line.........................If it is flat on the front it is best and if it is beveled it will work but not great

So he's wrong, no big deal.
803 10 is 914-6
804 10 (missing from his chart even though I have a couple and have sold dozens) is early 914-4
805 10 is a great wheel. Early 914-4 appearance group. Leather covered, fits an early or late 4, 6 or 911 and is still available in decent supply. My favorite.

914-4 is on a separate drawing

I have 2 914-6's in the shop, one with a plain wheel and one that is leather
the numbers above agree with each of those cars,

note 1970 and 1971 models used part # 9 which would be
804-10 and 805-10 for hard wheel and leather wheel

it changed in 1972 to 3 variations,part #25, all available on all models of 4 cylinder cars
804-11 hard rubber
805-11 leather covered
809-00 foam covered

It will work. For me the no dish and countersunk screw holes are the key. #s get spendy. Glwts.

They have ongoing battles over there about the 914 steering wheels and which one is correct for their RS cars.

So, your setting a ridiculous reserve price, then getting offers and you'll take the highest bid. Sounds like an auction to me.

I realize the OP doesn't actually say so, but many listed prices are OBO which could be higher or lower than the listed price. Everyone is entitled to get the most out of whatever it is they are selling.

We live in a free market society. If one thinks that its too much, just move on.

He listed the price he wants and folks are sending him offers.

I guess you have never sold anything here or on any other forum. My price is $675 as stated and people have sent me PM's with offers and "what is your best price?" This is not an auction and there is no reserve price. You obviously are uniformed about values on original unrestored leather wrapped steering wheels. You can buy a core wheel with this part # for $200 then get it recovered for $375 then add the nice horn pad in for $100 so $675 all in, but then it will not be original like this one.

Here are some that might fit your budget better, $10 each.

I'd bet I've sold a lot more items on this site than you, but that's not relevant. I have a half dozen of the same wheels so keep your ten dollar crap. Your comment about keeping the offers coming is liken to an auction. I've seen less blatant ads shut down here.

Btw, what was the final price?

Top marks Brad, had to be said,I have an idea on these sales,the guy selling owns it,the guy offers at a price,some other guy buys it...simple really.
I really think this part would have sold for way more if the seller had been selling 2 yrs from now for instance.
