well...how to begin. day 3 of trials and tribulations.
engine was dropped out of the car to do a few upgrades; 38 mm oil pump, weltmeister pressure relief pistons, mallory distributo...and a few others.
DAY 1
Lost my CV tool, being carless, joe sharp and brando came to the rescue. within a half hour, we had the engine out.....cut of a siezed mount bolt with the sawzall ....brando and I began dissasembly and cleaned the filthy motor up.
Day 2
Began the day with the intentions of swapping oil pumps and relief pistons.
oil pump install: found out that the drive tang needed to be ground down- no sweat.
went on to replace oil relief valves.... big one swapped fine. Little one was stuck in its bore. Steve stromberg suggested i use the pressure from the oil pump to blow the stuck piston out... no go. oil just dribbled around it . got it out with my super strength 50 buck neodmyum magnets......finally
Earlier that day Mxmark came over and helped me setup the mallory distributor.
Day 3
began the day with the intentions of buttoning up the whole motor and getting it in the car.
PO did a horible helicoil job on the intake studs on the heads. of course...they failed. so i had to re- helicoil 2 intake studs.
MattR spent all day over here giving me a hand we painted all the engine tin, and we asembled the whole thing and got it in tthe car. damn, does it look sexy.
i will crank it over tomorrow...i go to sleep now.....
