Do you have any pictures of the 914 that was on actual display at the 1969 show?

I only have the one gray photo from DGVWPB. I'd be really interested in any additional photos of that car.

I have a suspicion in need to confirm (or not) ...

Interesting. It is a 4 cylinder with Fuchs.

The green car that is the "cover shot" for the second video looks like black steelies with wheel covers.

We discussed it in Germany as well. Nice video. Wish to have such a free Autobahn today driving.gif

It's not without comments about the car: all things we now take for granted like the difficult access to the engine etc. And priced @ 12,000 DM, it was not considered to be cheap.

Funny moment when the 914 overtakes the Karmann Ghia!

FAKE FUCHS. Ugly hub caps. I like the euro front blinker. The small clear lights came on vs the whole yellow.

Looks like D-jet. I thought the euro cars had carbs.

Notice the edit when the guy did not get the Targa all the way in or secured? Then tried to close the trunk. blink.gif

And the fog lights blinked when that car passed.

Nope, all 1.7L were D-Jet, that includes Europe.

Only the 1.8L had carbs in Europe and the 1.8L didn't exist in 1969.

No, not the one in the film.

I mean the one that was on actual display at IAA. The /6 up on stage behind the ropes. It may be yellow but it's hard to tell from a black/white picture.

I know the one you mean. But I don't have any other picture

Johannes, what do you think? Is it the canary yellow one, which was used by Porsche for the "werksfoto" (official picture)?

Great collection of IAA or other fair pictures until now. I have another one from the 1973 IAA:

None of those were the prototype which is now a faded dull yellow. (Except possibly the first pic that Johannes posted; I can't really see the details well enough.)

The front turn signal lenses on the cars in these photos are either the standard production pieces, or ones that are quite similar to the production ones. The lenses on the prototype are the same beveled ones that are on the orange Piech 914-8.

A closeup of the first picture eliminates 914114, the car is not one of the known prototypes ...
