When I pulled my alternator there was a round flat plastic piece with a cut-out in it to fit over the front of the alternator. It looks like it might be some type of seal to prevent cooling air from escaping out of the front. Trying to put it back in and can't figure out how it goes without interferring with the sheetmetal cover on the front. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Oh man that was a PITA for me to get to stay put while getting the alt in place. At the time it seemed like it was a obvious fit.

Sorry that doesn't help.

The tab with the u shape cutout goes over the allen head bolt.

Well, I think I got it in. I'm kind of concerned because it pre-loads the tin that goes on the front of the alternator but will fit. I imagine that it was that way when I took it off but I just don't remember. rolleyes.gif
