I have this stamp on my engine on the oil filler. Is this a factory thing? Replacement motor? Anyone know? Thanks.

I've never seen it either. I'm just guessing, but that looks like a little too modern of font to be from the factory in my opinion.
Is it the original engine?

Well I don't know if it's the original motor but I know that it has been rebuilt at the very least. I also have another motor in storage that I know has this blue stamp as well.

I'm thinking its a stamp from the rebuilder. They can track the customer, what's being done and which case halves go together.

That is an internal VW stamp from the engine plant. All type 4 motors had them on the neck from the factory.

I've seen several. All the same font, all in the same location

I have seen that before. I think it was McMark who posted on it awhile back. Would suspect that it is factory original, possibly a factory rebuild but do not know.
We all know that 022 is a VW part number prefix code.

I've seen tons of them, but never tracked the data. Definitely a Porsche or VW thing though.

Oh wow. I even responded in that thread...
So it looks like it's just an internal reference as some have mentioned.
