Ok so I have never been able to get my FI exactly like I felt it should be. Well after reading a bunch of info again, it seems like my 1973 FI has some 74 parts in it. It seems well documented these parts don't play well together. But somehow I overlooked that. headbang.gif

It looks like I have a 73 ECU 0 280 000 037 but I have a 74 MPS 0 280 100 049.

So I either need a 74 ECU 0 280 00 043 or a 73 MPS 0 280 100 037.

Might prefer the 74 ECU as I have made the MPS adjustable but may have to take what I can get. Might want to try one or the other out to be sure that is the issue if some one has spares laying around.

IMHO Mike - you're best off the stick with all 73 D-jet parts to get it working right.

So find a good 037 MPS & make your adjustments to it. Also make sure you have the correct CHT sender & isolator & resistor on it.

Try contacting Rich Bontempi at HPH (High Performance House) in Redwood City CA (SF Bay Area), since he has a 400+ 914 parts stash at his shop/warehouse & knows the 914s well. So I suggest calling & talking with him about your engine issues.

I'm assuming here that you've backdated your 75 2L to 73 fitment, or transplanted a 73. If this isn't correct, then talk to Rich about your set-up. Then I would think that the 74 or 75 D-jet set-up may work best - depending on which motor you're trying to run it on (75 would need the smog stuff worked around too, which weren't on the 73 & 74 D-jets).

Also, Black Forest over in NC is closer to you in TN, for some tech help or shop work if needed.

Good Luck! beerchug.gif

Michael,

I may have what you need. Will dig around tonight and see if I can find an MPS or ECU or both.

I have MPS 0 280 100 043 which is designated for '74-76 2.0 and ECU 0 280 000 015 which is for '70-71 1.7 but MIGHT work with this setup confused24.gif

You are welcome to try them out.

Just noticed you said you have 74 MPS 0 280 100 049 ... that MPS is for a 1.7
Doesn't look like your ECU plays well with others rolleyes.gif
