Had my rear valance off to switch mufflers and decide to do this while it was off.

Stripped it, beat it into submission, primed it, and painted it.

What'd you paint it with?

I'm 'rebuildiing' my rockers and valance this week while I'm waiting for my dad to come on Friday to help with body work.

Now, I gotta do the front and sides!!!

Black 30 percent gloss. Premixed single stage paint with HVLP gun. Stripped, 3 coats primer, 3 coats paint, wet sanded between each coat.

Ya did it in a gloss?

Did you consider a flat?

30 percent gloss (semi gloss) Mike, just like the factory used.

Flat black looks...... well, Flat!!!!

Ahhh, the CW in ya....

Flat is easier to keep up and is a good contrast IMHO....

CW I ain't, but, I've found that flat is easier to rattle can a new coat on, but requires constant hand cleaning to look good. Dirt sticks to flat like crazy. This is real automotive paint, and will look great with a simple spray at the car wash, and last lots longer too.

I like the contrast of flat black all around the bottom on 914's. Just me though.

A CW refers to it as Concour

BTW3, I don't think "concours" is an English word. I know there's "concourse" but that means a mall or a plaza.

"concours" is a French word, and it is spelled with an "s". It refers to a challenge where there is a limited number of winners, i.e. not everybody can win. In school, there was a big difference between an exam where everybody could pass and a "concours" to enter another school or university where there were only a limited number of spots available.

"Élégance", of course, means elegance, so that "Concours d'élégance" means a contest to see who gets a prize for most elegant.
