Cool but I'd say if it is driven on the street it has a 99% chance of being a fake.

Looks fiberglass to me so I would say no.

It's not, judging by the windshield. Regardless, I want one

The dead giveaway of 90% of the kits out there is the kit guys always want to put a pair of panties on the shifter. No 356 or 550 ever had a leather shifter boot, just the stick.

Fake or real? Either way, it would be fun....

Looks like a Beck to me, longer with the 718'ish side vents.
Real ones have a rawness about them that's hard to fake...you'll know it when you see it.

Yep.....aluminum has a "look" that you will know when you see it
The reinforcing "bar" (don't know what to call it) that runs across the floor looks too finished.
My vote is This is a very nice kit car

Great look, some pretty good details but too much upholstery and......a clock ?
I can't believe how much each of the real Spyders differ.

the giveaway for me was the Disani water and Marlboros on the seat .
I think the real ones would have a German beer and a pipe

I get excited looking at Spyder's too
There is a guy building an exact replica of a Spyder in Michigan. Here's some of his build photo's.
He said it will be finished this year & off jack stands

And not just driven on the street, but parked behind a pickup truck, rather than the back of a parking lot? That pickup driver won't see anything in his rear view mirror when he backs up to leave. Crunch!

Very cool replica! I was fortunate enough to often deliver a Beck 550 Spyder (and other Porsches) to renters of the Ferdinand Club when it existed in Valle Crucis, NC. Here's a picture I took of it...

Even the kits are real cool, but if you want one real bad keep this in mind:
The top of the windshield is only about as high as the top of a door on a 914.
They are tiny.

Love these 550s, especially the fakes because they should be driven! I went to a car show and chose a replica like this as my favorite....

I built a Vintage Spyder. The top of the Vintage windshield which looks like the one on the first photo, lined up perfectly with my line of sight. Very annoying. I am 5'10"
I got great deals on everything, it still cost $20,000 to build without paint.
It is tiny. I usually climbed over the door and put my foot on the seat.
Drive before you buy.
The most recent real 550 Spyder sales are over $4,000,000.
Yea, four million.

Yup the one I worked on was fun to drive and it was a well built one like this one.
