the instructions implicitly say " This is the only wire to touch the negative/positive side of the coil"
currently i use the + side of the coil for a 12V switched positive source....
after hooking up the CDI... there should only be the CDI wires on the coil.... where can i find another switched + in the engine bay?

Here is the picture of your engine. Too bad it was pouring down rain. Probably looks much better dry with the sun shining.

Easy.
On the relay board where the F.I. four pin harness plugs in.
Use the terminal closest to the driver and the motor.
Looking at it as a compass, North-East position.

is this an ignition that has a BIG wire to the unswitched +12?
if so, the switched wire is used only to switch on the unit, not actually power the ignition, and won't draw any significant current.
lacking that - the relay that probably isn't used for the heated rear window in your car should get switched +12.
or - have a look at a wiring diagram and see where Terminal 15 or Terminal 30 show up back there.
or - use the wire currently attached to your fuel pump to trigger a relay, and draw current for both from that.

Nice Pic of your motor to bad you don't have an all alum oil fill neck for it .That would make it real nice

has 2 large wires that go to the battery.....
and a small red wire that goes to a switched + source.....
and then 2 wires to the coil....
will i fry anything that is hooked up to the coil + side tho?

You should be able to use the 12+ wire that was the coil wire. The stock coil wire.
That's how MSD does it. I have a wiring diagram.

ok..the remaining wire that went to the + side of the coil is a switched +?
so i could run the hyfire switched + lead, and the dizzy switched + lead off that wire?

Find your wiring diagram while I scan mine.

Yes, that's why if you leave the ignition on, the points/pertronix fry.

I'd say 95% yes.
