1973 Bahia Red L30E [same as VW Ghia 013]

Jeez! I can't find a search thread that reveals where, how or who sells rattle can and/or quart/gallon of the above on this site or through a GOOGLE search .

Must of sniffed too much glue the the model aircraft days of old

Try PaintScratch.com . I did a quick search, and found Bahia Red here:
http://www.paintscratch.com/touch_up_paint...her-Models.html. If you ask when you order, you can usually get them to make the older colors as a single-stage paint (instead of base coat/clear coat).

You can find the old PPG color chips & paint mix at this link with pix of the cards:

Change the search terms if you need a different MY, but Bahia Red was the same for all - & VW was the same as Porsche (their library is missing many MYs under Porsche color codes).

Then PaintScratch.com or PPG or Dr. Color Chip should be able to mix some up for you.

PPG, Dupont, Galsurit & Sikkens are the OEM (latter 2) & higher quality paint makers (all 4) for resto work.

You may also be able to go to one of the auto shop paint suppliers of one of those 4 to get them to use their color gun on your existing paint for a color match.

In all cases, test them for the correct color to make sure the match is good.

Hard to get paint shipped into California but it can be done (ie slipped thru system) Every year is increasingly more difficult - good luck, just keep trying or bring it in from a Vegas or Reno trip

You can also check with the Paint Store in Laguna Hills. They are right off the 5 Freeway. I think you need to exit Avery.
