My external oil cooler has rubber lines and less than great fittings. Looking to replace them with AN8 and braided steel lines. Looked around a bit and these things are not cheap! Any suggestions on where to buy for the best deal?

Why not use hard lines? And small amounts of SS lines.

That would reduce your cost a bit, but they are harder to run.

BTW, I have used Hydraulic lines before for oil coolers.

Race Part Solutions has pretty good prices on Fragola fittings and Parker lines. They are not as fancy as the Earls, Aeroquip, etc. stuff but work just fine. I've used it to plumb up a number of racecars without any issues.

Also, while their website makes them seem quite expensive, BMRS (Brown and Miller Racing Solutions) actually has pretty good prices on really nice pre-made hoses or just plain hose and fittings. I always assumed they were horribly expensive, but had the please of working with them last year and found the quality and service to be excellent and the prices to really be quite reasonable.

And then ebay. For the rest. Be aware most of the really cheap stuff comes from china so you will be waiting a little while.

You can find good deals on eBay sometimes if you can deal with second hand stuff. Sometimes you see new stuff at good prices. Buy the hose new though. I buy from Summit Racing. They have everything and at pretty good prices.

If you can plan ahead and don't mind used fittings check out a local EAA sanctioned "Fly-in". They usually draw several vendors to their "Fly-Mart". Great quality fittings for nickles on a dollar. You can find these fly in dates at their website; http://www.eaa.org/en/eaa/eaa-events
