There is a 914 on here with a 928 motor. Look up "The Alien" in the search.

As far as conversions go, the 928 motor is probably one of the hardest to do ...

And the 944 is just as long isn't it? Therefore just as hard.

That's my understanding as well, which is why we have zero 944 engine conversions in 914s. For the same amount of work, you can have twice as much motor... Or for less, you can put an SBC in, as those are shorter and fit more easily.

Subie and L6 seem like the best conversions I've seen There is plenty of guys doing them. You may do better to use a more common conversion to make the project easier. Besides I'd hate to have to adjust the tension belts in the car on either of those motors.

I think so also, having owned 2 944's IMO they are one of the longest 4 cylinder motors I have seen.

No kits, you are 100% on your own, if you cannot do 99% of the work good luck finding a shop that won't drain your bank account doing it for you.

Like mentioned the motors are super long, more so at the top where space is more limited on a 914.

The 944 motor is basically half a 928 engine so no advantage of going with that one. Even if the motor was free I don't think I want to tackle such a project. I think the 90° 3.6 V6 motor would be a sweet engine and would fit way easier.

Thank you all for the advice.
I will work with H6 conversion.
again thanks

Or you could just buy a conversion. Plenty out there. Probably save a lot of $$$ even if you still wanted to make changes.
