What the best (easiest) way to test the computer to see if its any good?
I have a 74 1.8.

Road test it (in a car) or use one of those diagnostic machines if you can find one. I don't think there's an easy or simple way to verify ECU function, but I could be wrong. I have been before.

There is a thread explaining some bench tests you can do with a multi-meter; otherwise, see how it works in the car. From my experience, these rarely fail unless they are subjected to flooding or other trauma

Put it on a good running car.
That's how we test our 3.2 ecu's.

I have an EFI Associates tester that checks the various L-Jet ECU functions, but it interposes with the FI harness and requires the entire FI system including the ECU, sensors and injectors be checked at the same .
