When installing the valve cover retaining wire piece, which way is up?

Should the curve in the middle have a happy face or a sad face?

New push rod tubes are in and I just did my first ever valve adjustment! They were pretty close to spec, a few (particularly intake valves) were a bit too tight.

Only goes one of two ways. If is on wrong, it hits the exhaust and the cover will not properly seat.
