OK, so how big a deal is it to fix this?
Can anyone point me at other threads that have any details?
Thanks much,
Chris

Haven't done this repair myself, but would think you would need a section from a donor car to replace that area on yours. I would put a WTB in the classifieds and see if some close to you has that section from a parts car.

What years have this foam?

Does anyone have a list of all the foam places on 914's?

Found a couple threads that addressed this. Check posts # 37 and 46 in this one.
Looks like Job 1 on this build will be some rear quarter spelunking!

Good luck finding a donor that isn't rusted in that area. Every single time i have removed that foam from a car, i have found rust.

Making your own repair panels is tricky since the whole section is made of compound curves.

Gotta cut it all out and replace. Oh, and please don't add any new foam. Once repaired and painted on the inside, just clean it out every once in a while.

I'm hoping that some (treatable) rust is better than "giant hole"! Either way: sawzall-smiley.gif smash.gif welder.gif

An easy way to get the foam out is to spray some carb cleaner up in there. It will eat up the foam and strip the paint off.
