Are there any year / model differences in the drive axles and flanges?

914-4's are all the same. 914-6 stubs and axles were different and NOT interchangeable.

Also the later replacement 2-CVs+shaft sets have different splines (a PCG part no. IIRC), so they aren't interchangeable on the 914/4 or -6.

AFAIK the ones Porsche is selling now are that way too.

So you have to change out the CVs/shafts on both sides. then can't use the older style shafts nor CVs on the new ones.
