So I got it back from stripping last Friday. Photos follow. It was painted on Monday, but I don't have any decent photos yet as we finished in the dark.

Curious,

We used this:

Curious about the drop floor pans? Did you do the Mod, how tall are you?
I've seen it on Pantera's but never a 914.

Ferg,
I dropped the floors 35mm so that I could put seat runners under the race seats. Ultimately it will have to fit a somewhat tall grandson. Its being built for historic racing down here.

Thanks Barry.
It was LHD. I have an OBP pedal unit to bolt in.
Yes, lots of welding, plasma cutter, grinder, shear and folder.

I would like to see the OBP pedal assembly, looks like it would solve a few issues.

Pretty much exactly that. I had to narrow the chassis rail by about 20mm to make it fit and line up, then the cross member brace was re-located to the front in the boot floor with a bit of reinforcing and plating.

I'm shocked to see such pornographic content on here! That poor 914 has been completely stripped naked, and you're just putting her out there for all to ogle!

Looks great !!
I am curious if they skipped a step or why does it have so much new rust ??
I read this from the link
QUOTE
Depending on the anti-rust coating you have chosen A protective residual film remains on all surfaces
I then read this ,,
QUOTE
And after processing:
We can apply phosphate treatment and rust preventative oils to all the cleaned surfaces
was this an extra cost option ??

The rust looks much worse than it really was. I didn't go wiith the protective coating because it didn't work with the paint. Yes it was an extra cost option, but not necessary. I left it in the shed on Saturday and Sunday with a dehumidifier pumping and it didn't rust much at all.

I'm just about to start on the pedal box area , you may recall the pedal box I Have? I need to do the same as you have, but notice the tie mount for the suspension cross bar you have cut off - Whats your plan for this area ??

After tossing around all sorts of options which were inelegant, I cut the brace off the cross member and turned it 180 deg and mounted the bobbin through the back end of the boot floor. You can just see it in a couple of the front boot photos. I plated the area before I mounted the bobbin. On balance the simplest and easiest.

Howard,
Am I not paying attention or is there no seam sealer left?
If none, did you remove it first or did the stripping process do it?
David

David,
The stripping process got rid of all the seam sealer, but for a few spots which I dug out as best I could, but it got 98% of it. I think it was in the tank frothing and bubbling for 2 - 3 weeks.
