Iam curious if carburators,...can be installed on a 92' subaru engine, or would you have to use a FI system,..??? can u re-map the ECU to run with a diffrant fuel system, I would love a 6 velocity stacked engine bay,....?? Thanks Frank stirthepot.gif

you'd probably need to go with something like a stinger ecu if you could not use stock ecu.

I don't think anyone has carbed a eg33 here, i am sure it can be done but FI is much better in general.

I say on first car, depending on skill level, don't reinvent the wheel, doing a seemingly easy swap is challenging enough without being unique.

do a sbc with stock 914 trans (rebuilt by dr evil about $1000) for simplest first conversion. plus a crate 350 runs about $2000 + carb, dist, etc. plus renegade conversion kit and cooling lit $3000 +-.

my sbc v8 with stock 914 trans runs about 2800 rpm at 65 mph. I could use a few more gears if I wanted to break the law smile.gif

You can do it either way, carbs or custom fuel injection.
Both will work
Both will require some custom work
Fuel injection probably has a lot more available with more pioneers.

Makes me want to do a carbbed Subaru

Scotty shhh! I've been working on a fuel injected Itb setup. Certainly will not work with stock fuel management. I'm planning on learning megasquirt when I implement it.

I don't expect huge performance gains(if any). The factory setup is better engineered than I would be able to achieve, but the t should look and sound pretty cool.

Jenvey in the UK also sells a bolt on ITB kit if you have the coin. Still needs aftermarket ECU though.

Check out this one:

I went and saw it in person and almost purchased it. The builder 3d printed the intake runners and used motorcycles throttle bodies. Might be able to get a hold of him through his account.

from what I've read here, a stock suby 6 moves a 914 real good. no need to get too fancy. start a build thread if you have not already.

I would love to the sound from that set-up....!!!
