I have an electrical problem, my fuse which is 8 amps and controls the dash and defrost lamps keeps blowing, not immediately but after some time even days of use. Can someone help me with troubleshooting ? pray.gif

What fuse #? I'm guessing probably #7

It's either 7 or 8 I am not at the car right now

Well, if it is #8, it should be a 16A fuse for '74 and later cars, and should be a 25A fuse for '73 and earlier.

If it is fuse #7, then check your fuse panel to see if either or both of the 'feet' which attach it to the rectangular sheetmetal plate are broken. If so, then the connectors at the #7 fuse are grounding to the sheetmetal plate when you go over a bump because the fuse panel is bouncing around (#7 fuse has connectors which get very close to the sheetmetal panel). If so, you can replace the fuse panel, or epoxy the feet back on - either way, it is a good idea to insulate the area on the sheetmetal plate near the #7 fuse to prevent future problems.

That helps, I think it is 7 because my owners manual lists the fuse as 8 amp.
I would think the broken feet fits my scenario where is does not happen all at once, the lights are on and then they are not and the fuse is fried.
Thank you very much laugh.gif

Counting left to right facing the dash it is the 7'th fuse.
