Spend the last day and a half attempting to assemble the passenger door with all new rubber. When I bought the car this aspect was in pieces so I didn't take it apart. Can't seem to find the correct procedure to enable all components to be correctly assembled. It's the aluminum channel at the top of the door, the one with a fuzzy inside and the window scraper on the top that is giving me an issue. Seems like I need to install the piece AFTER the glass is installed. When I attempt that there is no way I can get the glass down past to put in the 3 screws that hold it in place. Tried to assemble the channel first but a welded nut on the steel structure glued to the window bottom is too wide to fit the remaining opening. Being a Newbie I attempted to see if there was a thread that deals with this but found none. Please Help !! Off to have a beer now before I do something I'll regret. Car is 74 if that matters.

I know I did a rebuild with the triangle window seals so that may be of some help. I did late and had pics for the early out of the maintence manual. It's here somewhere.

Just did the channel and squeegees on both sides of my car.

The glass needs to come out. I removed the triangle first and the side window came out easily. I think there's a way to just move the triangle window and leave it in the car...but I wanted to clean things as long as I was in there. This is also a good time to replace the window rollers. Check the classic forum for removing the glass for more detail and pics.

Once you set the squeegee track with the 3 screws and put the glass back in, the easiest way to get the rubber part in the track is to push it in from the top. Don't try to slide it from the side. Once you get it started, you'll see that applying downward pressure pops the rubber into the channel. Then just trim the end to fit.

Thanks all I'm back on the project this morning. Your information is just what I need. Will keep you posted on progress. Guess there is some benefit to having bought a roller with nothing on it. It's all rust free and clean !!!!

Thanks for all the help Mikey my 914 Rubber equipped new door glass installation is now complete. I must add that I also rolled the car into the hot NW Ohio sun yesterday for the first time since last Nov. The sun's rays helped immensely to assemble all these components. Windows are now functional once again after 24 years !!!!! My fingers are a little sore today after that workout.

You may appreciate more in the winter, but it's done.
