UPDATE FOR 2017 EVENT -

The McQueen show is the Saturday before the GPX Zone 8 PCA Concours at the Lakewood CC that Sun. June 4th - so if you want to make it a Two-fer that weekend, head out for this well attended low key Multi-Make car show, where all displayed cars are judged by Boys Republic students, mentored by an experienced Concours Judge volunteer.

This is a great SoCal Multi-Marque Charity Car Show, to benefit Steve McQuee's Alma Mater - Boys Republic.

It's a really great car show - with a great variety of motorcycles, street & race cars, light & heavy trucks, RVs/Travel Trailers, sail planes, etc. - including some of Steve McQueen's personal vehicles. Loads of Fun!!!!


Since it's multi-marque - this is your chance to also show off your other non-914 sweet rides - so bring ANY VEHICLE for on-site Entry/Display, or just park in the public parking area, & go Gawk-n-Talk on their campus, enjoy the many car related vendors, food, sail plane rides, etc. & the people.

All proceeds go to support the Boys Republic mission.

At this point, there is only on-site registration for Display, or just to park.

If you decide to Display, you will be judged by one of the students of Boys Republic - mentored by a concours judge from the various auto clubs around SoCal, including a few of us PCA volunteers.

The auto themed awards are made by the kids in their shops, & the food & event are run by the students & staff + volunteers.

I'll be there as a volunteer judge/mentor with our `88 Westy - hopefully in Display by the RVs & Trailers area (usually on the Baseball field), & perhaps my wife will join me to show off "her Happy Van"!


So feel free to look me/us up, &/or follow my student/judge & I, or any of the other judge teams around for a while - as well as to take it all in.

Looks like a neat event but I've never been able to make it. This year I just might! I probably will not take the 914 but regardless will shoot lots of pics if I go.

Crap....I always miss this one and it.s right down the road from me.

I always seem to miss this too. Usually for something lame....
This year I had already registered for another car show, Rare Vintage Air, in HB.
Maybe next year.

Back in 2015 I Displayed our then freshly rolling-resto restored 1988 Westy, but couldn't really "compete," since I was mentoring the student-judge doing VWs & Porsches & RVs/Trailers categories. Here a a few pix of it there FYI - no biggie!

And lest we forget - Steve McQueen both raced Porsches successfully, as well as doing the iconic "LeMans" movie! they had his 917 on display there a few years back.

There were tons more cars, bikes, trucks, etc. there displayed on 2 large & 1 smaller grass fields, plus many great food booths, & stuff to part your money for you, spouse/SO/GF or kids! Great family event too!

I am going... Driving the 911S as not displaying.

I will be there also in the 911s. It is always a great show.

Some of the best hand made trophies ever ! Hand crafted by the students on campus in the woodshop. Here's our Cool Style from 2012. Some very interesting judges, Freeman Thomas of the 911 R gruppe went over all the nooks and crannies on our black six, and had numerous questions on the equipment. Thinking about going to the GPX Concours tomorrow. It was a great show.

Dang, I'm still down sick & worse today, so I had to bag out on judging at GPX today! My wife brought the dang summer cold/flu/sore throat thing home from work (RN at hospital) to share!

I'd not been to GPX before cuz it always conflicted with our big Pismo vintage trailer show on the 3rd May weekend, & it's supposed to be great!

Say Hi to the chair Linda C. who puts it together, & Dick D. who put on their GPX breakfast with the 914 featured car a while back in Seal Beach, & to Mike D. who puts together the McQueen Concours/Judging - all 3 will be there helping with judging or something today - while you're walking around.

I should be good to go for the OC Concours on 6/17 at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley, & have it on good authority that the food/drinks situation will be improved this year!
