Full Version: Taller tires on a 914

Since I mentioned them in another thread....

I'm putting GT Flares on my '75 along with 16" Fuchs. After much debate with the other voices in my head, we've decided that we're going with the retro look. I'd also like more sidewall than the 205/50/15's that I'm driving on today, the roads around here are a little harsh. I also want the taller tires for the lowered cruising gear ratio.

So what are the drawbacks to 225/55/16 f and 255/50/16 r ? It appears that 255/50's are the widest 16 tires available without going to comp tires. If that's true, there's not much reason to spring for 16x9 rims, 8's should be fine for the 255's. Should the 255's fill the flares sufficiently?

Let me know if the commitee in my noggin has led me astray... screwy.gif

Thanks,
Eric

9's would fill out the 255's much better...

8's will look like a ballon.

I'd say 255's...
They should look really good under flares.

IMHO
