The pin on the window lift mechanism came out of the roller on the base of the window. I was able to return the pin into the roller. Is there anything I can do to keep it from happening again?

I suspect the hole is worn. Clean the roller slot and the pins on the worm drive, and add some epoxy between the two. May take up the slop, but replacing is the only way to fix it. I'm working on about new early version now.

Thanks for the input. I thought I would try a plastic shim between the roller and the channel, keep it pushed toward the pin. Any cons to this approach?

You may have worn it past serviceable life.
You could rig up a strap like an RS door panel to lift the window and snap it into place while you wait to find a early window mechanism

If that is a drivers door I just pulled a good regulator. I should have a passenger die if that is it
