Gents,
Was curious if you had to use those door braces from seat belt bolt to door hinge bolt while welding in the plates. I have heard that when they cool they can sometimes affect door alignment etc. Is it sufficient to just keep the doors closed and the targa top on. My mechanic, if I recall correctly, said there was a technique when welding that should mitigate the problem, thus not requiring the braces. Any ideas are appreciated.

Do a search. The expert welders on this site have given lots of good info.

The key is not getting things too hot. So avoid welding in one area too long. Spread it around. Are you using the Engman kit? I would still use door braces, they aren't hard to fab up.
