Just opened my new issue of The Rodders Journal,#71. And inside is an article on the Steve Moal built Speedster that was commissioned by Wayne Carini. The car was featured on one of the Chasing Classic Cars episodes.
Looking at the pics closely, the rear trunk lid appears to be using 914 engine lid latching parts.
Included the only pics that show the latch and the car.

Wonder how they stumbled onto that latch. That is a beautiful hand built roadster.

Nice catch Craig.
I saw the build episode featuring a high end level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. Great car.

The electric version is used on the Boxster. Wonder why they did not use it.
