I just checked the Gunnar Racing site and noticed they have a nice 914-6 for sale. Very neat car. Has dual front mounted oil coolers in the headlight bucket areas among other nice details. Check it out.

The price is probably a little high for most of us CSOB 914 owners though! laugh.gif

the guys at gunnar are amazing. Is there any other shop that does that level of work on porsches or are they the benchmark?

I would say Gunnar is truly the benchmark in Porsche work. How many shops rebuild 917s, 904s, 916, 910 etc. and also race at the pro level? There website shows it all. I think they really over restore but they can do it all.

Holy Crap! $90,000??? And they say you couldn't build one for that kind of money. That sounds like a challenge to me. I can't possibly see how that car (or a better one) could NOT be built by someone for less money. To me it looks to me like fellow 914 club member Paul is over 1/2 way there and I'm sure he has less than $90,000 in his. Perhaps they meant that you couldn't get them to build one for less than $90,000. What makes this car 3 times as expensive than the various clean 3.0 to 3.6 litre 914 race cars that we see for sale at the $30K range?

those 3.0 and 3.6 cars you mention are also being sold at a loss.

don't get me wrong.
I'm not going to pay 90K
but I also just want to point out that if you factor a labor rate into the build they might not be that far off at 90K.

Personally, If I was paying my dad 100$ an hour on our car we would be over 90K. and I don't even want to mention what we have into it in parts alone.

Plus that sounds like a $20,000 engine in that car

oh... I wanted to add...
speaking of loss leaders, I know of a $30K 3.3L 914/6 for sale right now that took pole at 10 out of 10 races it went to. It was black flagged at a POC event because it was leading the regulars, and when the steward pulled it over the steward admitted as much and then let him go back out after the 2nd and 3rd placed 911's had gone bye

Well $90K for that seems about right considering that California/Texas original (?) 1973 for $38K. Geez, if only my retirement portfolio would quintuple I might be able to talk them down to a price I could pay. sad.gif

I offered $85,000 for it. They turned me down so screw em.

I love you guys, you are so BAD. I once dated a lovely ladie by the name of Adrine Jeanett, met Gunner and Rich ( Gunners dad) Adrine's brother at a jewish chaistmas party. Being a carpenter at a jewish christmas party was to strange for me. At the time I had no idea who the fuchs they were.
