Full Version: Left rear gained neg camber!

had car 4 wheel aligned six months ago.....

2.5 degree neg camber is what it was at (guy didnt have shims) dry.gif
looks like in the last month my left rear gained a few degrees! i havent hit anything....

no accidents...
no spins.....
bolts are tight....

WTF happened????

Welllllllll....the suspension ear is like, hollow., ya know?....and can take on water inside the two pieces....and once weakened..... tweak...typically the passenger side has the issue due to an addition of battery acid....but the driver side having the problem is not unheard of....but less common.

Time to get underneath and check for bends in the rear suspension, Joe Bob

ayup....

suspension ear was fine at time of new trailing arm instalation (8 months ago i went five lug)
ear wasnt ovaled or anything either....

gee... i almost hope i bent a trailing arm..... ohmy.gif

im soo done with 30 year old cars... sad.gif

and brand new rear suspension bushings..... ( 8 months old)

Drive it around the block.. park it different.. recheck.

Still the same... then you know what to do....

Trailing arm is an easy fix.....the ear is a bitch.....ask me how I know.....

Seriously, to get more negative camber, the inner ear would have to grow longer. Look elsewhere...like the trailing arm (see bumpstops above).
