I have been posting some videos over this last year that people seem to enjoy.
I have some AWESOME in-car footage from Infineon raceway this past weekend i'd like to show you.

The video in it's current format is 110 MB ohmy.gif .

I need help compressing to help ease the download/upload pain for you and me. wink.gif

I have ImageMixer, Windows Movie Maker, Windows Media Player. What's the process?

You won't be disappointed.

quicktime pro using sorenson video 3 compression will get it small and maintain the quality.

I don't use Windows Movie Maker so I can't comment on settings
for you; but .wmv or .mpg good quality compression can be done
with the free version of the program I use 'tmpgenc'. Earlier, I
took your 33Mb mpeg AX file and compressed it to 9Mb mpeg and
it was absolutely impossible to tell the difference (could have
gone way smaller without much loss also). With mpeg output,
you set 'constant quality' and choose 0 to 100. 50 or 60
is usually good enough for me.

Also for web use, if you can do half-size rather than full-size you
will save loads of bits.

Of course there are many other programs out there.

get windows media encoder. It's free and it's at Microsoft.com.
I've done side by sides with Quicktime and WMV of the same quality and compression rate. The WMV was substantially better looking AND 60% the filesize of the QT.
I've been using Cleaner in the past, but recently got the WME. I don't have any preferred settings yet, but you should be able to make some tests to find your favorite.

I was hoping for something as simple as a "Save As"...

I tried 'tmpgenc' and got the file from 110mb down to 42mb.

that pretty good and the vid looks about the same.

I know it can be compressed further. I'm persuing the MS option right now.

Thanks. Keep the ideas coming. wink.gif

there is a free utility on the microsoft site that converts various video file types into WMV's.

It is very straightforward and works well. You can choose to set it up as streaming or a simple data file, etc.

I used it to make the short video I have on my website.. (click on my car in the shed)
