Well, the day had to come. Off the jack stands and then right back on for ride height and to grind down the ends of bolts holding the 944 CV together at the trailing arm. Stock were too short, 50 mm locked things up.

I can get the gears with the car stationary. But running it is R, 2 and 4 but not 1, 3 and 5. It is a side shifter with the rod straightened to avoid the headers. The shifter looks stock but I really know not where it originated. The shift rod going through the tunnel is stock for a side shifter and it travels through a spherical bearing that I made to fit the shaft. So, that is the set up. It seems like I do not have a enough travel to pull into the one gear set. Oh and it is a Kennedy clutch. Any thoughts before I start welding stuff like a pretzel?

The really bright side was being unable to find first and so launching back into the garage in 2nd. Wow! It isn't like the 4 pot.

My own fault. The bushing I made for the side shifter was too thick and interfered. Back to the lathe and lo and behold I have driven the car for the first time ever!! aktion035.gif

And although I love my 2056, this is a very different beast. I am going to have to work hard to stay out of trouble. piratenanner.gif piratenanner.gif piratenanner.gif piratenanner.gif piratenanner.gif

Really should actually attach the windshield and the rear deck lid. But man am I happy today rolleyes.gif

And also the Lotus engine I bought for my son came to life for the first time since it arrived on a pallet. Everything's coming up Milhous laugh.gif

Isn't that a Hoot! Congrats Warren. The first time I felt the power of a 6 in my 914 I remember thinking, Uh oh, here come the tickets. busted_cop.gif

Took the new 914 for a bit more of a spin. Long punch list but a lot of parts are one the car rather than waiting to be cleaned and painted.

Thing is it is scary quick. Not sure I know what to do with such a thing, but figure I will learn. Thank God I put in taller 4th and 5th. Starting in second is getting to be a habit.

Then it is time to get it used to older stable mates. Though the red is a 72 and the blue a '73.

Now a few more things and the door cards will be in. Then a longer drive. Then coast to coast, nationwide.
