I need to know the specs/availability of the spring that hold the pawl to the geared pc. I can pull up on the e-brake, but it doesn't stay in place because the spring that holds the pawl is trashed. I've included the parts diagram, but the spring is not listed.

Anybody know where I can get one?

Is this what you are looking for?

I've got a '72 also and have the same problem. From what I could find, it looks like the spring piece we need is attached to the metal rod, part #3 in your diagram.

If I can get a sample I'd be happy to make these.

I wish I had a complete part to help you, but mine is broken.

Hopefully someone has one that you could look at. The spring piece is welded to the metal rod, within the brake handle, which I've pointed out below. I've searched around but couldn't find a replacement.

Do you have a pic of the other part that broke off?

Mark,

The picture above is a complete working part, I found that picture while searching for the same spring the OP of this thread is looking for.

In the picture above, the piece the arrow is pointing to, is the part that breaks off.

I think so. The old spring is really trashed, but it looks similar. Does this attach to the end of the metal piece that RAX 914 posted?

It looks like you do make one, or am I missing something?

Nevermind; I just looked at your website and saw that you do have the compression spring for the knob on the e-brake, but not the one I'm looking for. The one I need is not listed in the PET at all.

Now I understand what you mean about needing a sample.

I think you are right. Looks like we might have to fabricate something, or find a spring that will work. I need to look at a functioning e-brake and see if I can check out the spring. I'll see if I can find one; stay tuned.

I think I could fabricate a spring easily enough. The problem is attachment. May just have to make a complete piece.
